Therapy Assistants

About

🤝 What Do Therapy Assistants Do?

Therapy Assistants (TAs) play an important role in supporting children to practise and build on the skills they learn in Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy. At Stepping Stones, our TAs work with children individually and in group settings, always following a therapy plan created by an experienced Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapist.

Their sessions are designed to be engaging, goal‑focused, and aligned with the same neuroaffirming, evidence‑based approach used across our team.

🎓 Training, Supervision & Quality

Our Therapy Assistants:

  • Work strictly under the guidance of a qualified SP or OT

  • Follow a detailed therapy plan tailored to each child

  • Participate in regular supervision sessions to review progress and adjust strategies

  • Have access to extensive professional development, ensuring their practice remains high‑quality, safe, and effective

This structure means families receive consistent, well‑supported intervention that aligns with best‑practice standards.

đź’ˇ Why See a Therapy Assistant?

Seeing a Therapy Assistant can be a great option for families because:

  • Session costs are lower, making therapy more accessible

  • Children can work on a combination of Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy goals within the same session

  • TAs provide additional opportunities for practice, repetition, and confidence‑building

  • They help maintain momentum between clinician sessions, supporting stronger long‑term outcomes

Therapy Assistants are a valued part of our team, helping children grow their skills in a fun, supportive, and coordinated way.
